Why not before the FCC sold the frequencies? 5G is already deployed in some markets. Surely there must be "science".   • woodman: @debeers - #5G Hi there Lady debeers. Admittedly, I have not kept up on this like I should. Back in May/June a techie friend of mine and I discussed the field. He was high on $VIAV and $EMKR. He follows this area; I don't. I also have a long watchlist that I developed a couple years ago, but have not kept up on it and I don't know about their "freshness." Others I occasionally look at that have been doing well are $SBAC and $AMT. But, really, this is a longwinded way of saying I need to do some studying and can't direct you to a Fave right now.   • stairm01: @sierramp $SBAC I was holding 8 call options and was on the road at the open. Luckily! By the time I got home the stock had dipped $8 from the open and had moved back up. I knew earnings were soon, and thought the move was on earnings so sold hear the high of the day and then realized earnings weren't until the 20th. So now I'm thinking there could be more of a move in this stock. But I'm real happy with my profits. No complaints.

  • sierramp: @wineinquirer I'm sure Dan will have some more precise input. Competitors $CCI and $SBAC both pulled back at the same time as $AMT. Although the PB was very steep it was to the trend line just below the D50. That steep of a PB would scare me off for a while but since then it has been holding along that trend line. I got back in with a starter on the PB mid Oct. With the price now at the upper BB I expect another PB. My stop is at the support trend line to limit risk. I hope this helps a bit.

  • phgruver: @Henry $AMT $CCI $SBAC #3G Obviously, you meant 5G. It stands for Fifth Generation, and is the new standard for wireless connectivity. It will bring faster speeds, shorter delays, and increased connectivity. To implement, it will require more and more sophisticated cell phone towers. This is a positive for $AMT and $CCI, as they are REITs that own the towers. I'm not sure what $BAC has to do with all this, but they are up nicely today as well....
  • rverkamp: @Henry $AMT $CCI $SBAC #5G 5G allows wireless speeds to compete with fixed broadband speeds. In order for 5G to work, the towers have to be closer, I believe like 2x closer. So, tower companies $AMT and tower related shelters $CCI have lots of opportunities. This will also allow the wireless companies to disrupt the cable MSOs like comcast, charter, etc. 5G is just now being rolled out, LA was Verizon's first market in Oct 2018.

Hit a new all time high today, with blue sky ahead. Not major, but has somewhere between 15 / 16 percent short interest. Might be worth taking a look at it if it continues to show strength.

  • Diana2010: $AMT - @mradams0621- It is always a good idea to check on the industry/competitors of a stock before buying to make sure the group looks OK. In this case, you should look at $CCI and $SBAC to get more information on how $AMT should perform over the near term. Both have lost support and appear to be accelerating to the downside. I would stay away from this group for now. Don't be first out of the foxhole.
  • woodman: $AMT - all of these tower owners/operators are under distribution. Look at competitors $SBAC and CCI. You can buy any at this level with a tight stop to make it low risk, but I'm staying away.

If I'm recalling correctly, it's outperformed $AMT (a crowd favorite here) in just about every time interval except most recently. No position, but thanks for the reminder. Btw, watch $CCI too.
  • Diana2010: $SBAC - I have a position with a cost basis 70.40. I like their purchase of cell towers in Brazil. I will hold this one for a while unless there is a change in fundamentals.
