Specifically, here are my stocks: My best stocks right now are Alphabet ($GOOGL) and Nvidia ($NVDA). And I also like…Sprouts Farmers Market ($SFM) as a random, smooth trade.

- phgruver: @Henry $SFM He may have anticipated a greater amount of activity, going into the close. It didn't seem to attract that much attention. For those who are too lazy to look it up, $SFM reported eps of $.59/share on sales of $1.64B. Estimates were for $.34/share and 1.59B. That's a solid beat on both the top and the bottom line. The sales beat was only 3.3% over estimates, but it was also a 16% increase YOY. Hard to predict the future, but I can't see this causing a sell the news event....

- phgruver: @rverkamp $SFM It's not on the GSL. @Dan mentioned it a week ago, when it broke out, on volume, as a possible earnings run. Since that time, though, it has flagged on declining volume. The chart does look constructive, but it's not a typical GSL trade. I have a fairly small position that's a whole $22 underwater, but I like the investment. I've decided to hold through earnings, and may add, if it pulls back a bit. The implied move, for $SFM, is about $1 up or down. If it stays within that range, I'm good holding, or even adding. IMHO, I think their growth prospects are better than for other grocery stores.

- phgruver: @Bwhitty $SFM 7/21 was a breakout on high volume, but then it pulled back for 3 consecutive days, and I think that's what got it bumped off the GSL, it didn't do what was expected. I did my own research, though, and felt that it was something I wanted to own, so I opened a starter position. I wouldn't buy it RHRN, though, because of earnings. Let's see how it reports. If it doesn't totally tank, a modest pullback could be a buying opportunity, and if it rockets higher, one could add on momentum, just don't chase. Long term, I like what they are doing. I think they will continue to take market share from the cookie cutter supermarkets. Better quality, better variety and competitive prices. It's all good.....

- Nepenthe: @DAN $CIEN I noticed in your Morning Market Update email that there is no mention of $SFM. I've read the thread on it from others, but I'd be curious as to your thoughts on it also. I have a small break-even position that I plan to sell before earnings; primarily because too many other positions are working well, I try to keep my positions at a manageable number for my addled brain, and I added $CIEN. Your take always helps in the learning curve. Cheers.
- DAN: @Nepenthe $CIEN $SFM Hi Nepenthe. Can't cover every stock. SFM reports earnings tomorrow. My textbook approach: It is always risky to hold a stock with no profit over earnings. It's gambling. Sometimes you hit green, and sometimes you hit red. Your guess is as good as mine. If you had a really solid profit that was above where the implied move was (currently, $3.24 in either direction), then you might decide to sell half and let the other half run. This assures a profit in the stock, while still leaving yourself more room for additional gains. Dan
