- grcjr: $SDRL was a $yieldhog some of us held ... until @jan2138 pointed out the issues with this one. I have to laugh. This morning they announce they are considering bankruptcy. .... and the stock is up. It is a penny stock, closed yesterday at $0.2951. Now at $0.3785 in the premarket.

Following posted this morning. .... and yesterday after the close. Hamilton, Bermuda, July 3, 2018 - Seadrill Limited(SDRL) announces today that Seadrill Partners, the Master Limited Partnership it established in 2012 and in which it holds approximately a 46.6% interest in, has been awarded a $273 million settlement from the English High Court following a dispute with Tullow Ghana Limited in relation to the early termination of the West Leo.

These two have not been holdings of mine for a long time and likely won't be soon. $SDRL working through bankrupcy. The Saudis could say something and drop the market....and that would be new news. I'm a trader who trades on news but always with an eye on chart levels for risk management. LOL

- GreenGhost: @jan2138 $OXLC See what you're saying but very bearish price action in stock and that outside yield ( unsustainable IMO) screaming divvy cut coming despite what mgmt. postures ( see $SDRL $KMI $BBEP et al for examples of don't drink mgmt. kool-aid market knows better); stock is down 45% since June 15 high and a very sharp 35% since end of Sept it ; now trading outside of lower BB after big squeeze down ; the sign of a vey weak stock ; hope /suspect you're out long ago and posting for benefit of others still long ; charts suggests even lower prices ahead . If divvy cut /reduced stock could very quickly take another big dive down as only reasons most hold is for the divvy.
- jan2138: @GreenGhost $OXLC $SDRL $KMI $BBEP : I hear you but, in this case, earnings have been more than ample to cover the dividends to date and with March and June declared, no near term cut. Also, .60 of the recent move is an ex dividend adjustment. As I said, I think it's more a matter of "share price to low". We shall see and thanks for your observation. I am well aware of $SDRL and $BBEP which I exited a long time ago for the very reasons you mention. Great to have you back. - Lou: @mradams0621 - $WFT, $SLB and behind them $SDRL and $ESV. Not RHRN! I have small short put positions in $COP $FANG and $EOG but I'd wait some on adding.
- Lou: I continue to believe that the deep sea drillers are at decent entry points, in spite of the recent run up. I'm holding $WFT and $SDRL and am short puts in $SDRL $SLB and $ESV - pretty full, so I'm not adding.
- jan2138: @Lou $SDRL: I would be cautious because any negative announcements regarding new-builds status, renegotiated day rates or contract cancellations and of course, oil prices, could trigger a very quick reversal pushing right through stop losses.
- Lou: @jan2138 - thanks Dana. I've got $SDRL on a short leash. I'm long shares from some time ago at 11.68 (accepted an assignment on short puts); short 12.50 puts for June 19 (got almost a dollar for them); and profitable LEAP short puts (Jan 2017) for well after the oil story will play out.
- Lou: Deep sea drillers continue to move up. Long (or short puts) in $SLB $WFT $ESV $SDRL. IMO they all have room to run.
- prockow: $SDRL- Dan Dicker on real money is thumping the table to buy under 12.00 says it will be above 40.00 in 2017
- jan2138: @prockow $SDRL: could happen, but there are lots of holders who are way under water, pun intended, waiting to get out of it which could compromise that prediction.
- Lou: @prockow - thanks for calling my attention to Dicker on $SDRL. I'm pretty optimistic about the deep water drillers and have a very small position and a few short puts on $SDRL, holding $WFT, short puts on $SLB and afew short puts on $ESV. Plan to add to $SDRL via short ITM puts to get some shares cheaper.

- grcjr: @hwyflier $SDRL When I squint at the daily I see a possible bottoming process. The 50dma is turning a bit up. But I agree with you that if it falls through the 50dma it is free fall likely. Another week of churn could see the 20/50/200 dmas all meet. A break below 12 is real trouble. A higher high maybe 17. When I look at the weekly I am more optimistic. Several months of sideways, moving into a VS. Watching. Have alerts set up and down. Cheers and thanks for your posts.
- jan2138: @grcjr $SDRL $SDLP: if you are involved with the $SDRL, why not look at $SDLP which continues to pay a dividend. I have not kept up with the fundies since I exited these, but $SDLP appears to have had a good quarter, and I would expect them to declare another dividend before too long and pay it 45 days after the 6/30/15 quarter end. It is an LLC but issues 1099's, not K-1's.

Stagger stops maybe 1/3 of position 14.50 ish just under yesterday's close ; 1/3 trailing stop and 1/3 say maybe sell when it runs out of gas which could be today.; it's pretty extended as I mentioned and no longer HTB. Bear in mind you can always get back in cheaper on expected pullback if you so choose.
- rck89: @Lou $EOG $WLL $ERX $SDRL $RIG Thanks for your posts. I think that Einhorn's thesis is wrong. I really don't think that crude futures can be used to "predict" future prices. But even IF they could be predictive, prices in the short term are going up. The upward price action in the oil stocks trumps Einhorn's view, IMHO. He's late to the party. I'm long $ERX and have made a bundle. Also long $SDRL, $EOG (Jan 100 calls), $RIG (Jan 20 calls).
- rck89: @Lou $EOG $WLL $ERX $SDRL $RIG Thanks for your posts. I think that Einhorn's thesis is wrong. I really don't think that crude futures can be used to "predict" future prices. But even IF they could be predictive, prices in the short term are going up. The upward price action in the oil stocks trumps Einhorn's view, IMHO. He's late to the party. I'm long $ERX and have made a bundle. Also long $SDRL, $EOG (Jan 100 calls), $RIG (Jan 20 calls).

- Lou: @GreenGhost - $SDRL isn't the only driller off its highs on the day - $HAL $SLB and $WFT have all come off. Probably others as well. Still like the group for the intermediate term.

- GreenGhost: @kfondue $SDRL slick trading slim; I'm now thru both my strikes on BUCS will likely get max profit but had to spread IMO with IVs so high for risk mgmt. ; beats a sharp kick in the knee though. You might want to get a wheel-barrel and take some off today.
- Lou: Bit the bullet and cleaned out my fracker positions - took profits on $EOG and $WLL and sold my starters in $XEC and $APC at a small loss. I believe Einhorn. He's not an Ackman and definately not a sleeze talking his book. He was right as rain on the sub-prime mortgage lenders and I think that he's always the smartest guy in the room. Retained short deep OTM puts in $EOG. Still holding positions in $COP $SLB $WFT $ESV $SDRL.
