- DrScience: $VHC gets positive court ruling against $AAPL. Breakout on high volume could trigger more buying when the dust settles. VirnetX, an Internet security software and technology company, announced today that the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division (the "District Court"), entered a Final Judgment and issued its Memorandum Opinion and Order ("Order") regarding post-trial motions resulting from the prior $502.8 million jury verdict ("Verdict") for VirnetX in the ongoing patent infringement action between VirnetX Inc. ("VirnetX") and Apple Inc. ("Apple").
- beachnorwegian: $VHC. A patent play that just recieved (in the bank) a settlement of nearly a half-billion dollars from Apple. I've been following this stock for more than a decade. It's a complicated story. But I think with this money (after lawyers, etc) will propel the company forward. The 5 minute chart looks interesting rhrn. VHC has one remaining case v AAPL still unsettled, but close.
- beachnorwegian: @beachnorwegian $VHC So, I'm telling on myself. I once again predicted price action rather than followed it. I saw the 5-minute chart as a bullish flag about to take off. But when I placed the VWAP over the 5-minute chart, I realized that a sell signal was in effect, not a buy signal. The price has continued to drift lower since my first post. Lesson learned (still learning). Thanks @Dan.

Those two are way too rich for me at this point, so they should be heading still higher. I'll do a bit of digging, hoping to find some small specialist outfit with headquarters in the U.S. and half a dozen ex-Israeli military types coding somewhere outside Tel Aviv that is flying under the market's radar. Fat chance, I expect. Hadn't thought about $CSCO in that context; that's a stock that I've been looking at longingly for a while. - Big D: $VHC - Look at the chart. Yesterday, there was strong volume into the close and some continued buying in the after-market which took it close to the gap-down level of the March 14th drop. Today, it looks as though it will start to fill that gap-up.... nothing real fast, but nice upward movement.

I was assigned the stock this weekend from Apr/19 short puts with an adjusted cost basis of 17.30. Just thought I would post on this one trade until it's over. Ha! My bottom line for you is this: Don't be hyperactive ... - woodman: $VHC - I entered back in today, just a portion, and caught only about a third of the move.

- woodman: $VHC @russ1030 - the worst thing I did was to hold it through the binary event of the $CSCO verdict and not getting out when the little tea leaves before the jury came back pointed to a problem. The best thing I did was to sell it and take the first big loss on that initial whoosh down and to stay away from it ever since. One day, I may get back in, but I just don't have any confidence that it's truly done going down yet. Others disagree with me based on what I've read on Twitter. I'm fine not being the first out of the foxhole. I was too late to jump into the foxhole. I alreay lost a limb, but I still have my head.

- russ1030: $VHC - @woodman, Sorry,I had to be out this afternoon. I ended up selling the April $18 put for $1.40. Almost 8% yield over 20-something days. That's what happens when the implied vol. is over 100. If it does get put to me,it makes the cost basis $16.60 per share. I know I'm trying to call a bottom here,but as long as vol. is where it is,selling calls will hopefully mitigate my downside. It's a small position,so it won't hurt too bad if it doesn't work out. - GregCra: Is anyone in a critiquing mood? Here are 3 paper cuts that have occurred this week. Not sure what the lesson is: $JPM bought March 25 at 49.12 .. stopped out today at 47.47. I bought it Monday thinking it was bouncing from the previous Thursday low and would move up. WFR bought March 21 at 4.60 and stopped out Monday at 4.26. Originally bought it because it looked like it was bouncing up from the low on March 19th. $VHC bought March 20th at 22.10 and stopped out March 25 at 21.10. Originally bought as it had a very large downdraft in the previous week and looked like it was starting to bounce up. thx for any input you have. @Greg

- woodman: $VHC - I'm watching too. It is coming back today, but keep in mind that it may still be fluid based on news and upcoming events. For instance, the end of Apple's 30 day period to file an appeal is on 3/28, while at the same time it is supposed to be negotiating with $VHC over an agreement concerning future royalties. The Court gave them 45 days to arrive at a deal; in the absence of a deal, the Court would decide it for them. So, the appeal period expiration will come 15 days before the expiration of the the 45 day period. And, of course, whatever is happening with $VHC v. Cisco post-trial motions, etc.

When IV is 100 or more, you can give yourself some room to the downside, and still make decent money. Hopefully, a $21 put would not be exercised, but if it was, cost basis would still be under $20.
